Health Services

ERA has a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) consultant who works with students, families, and school staff. Our nurse covers several schools in the district and can be reached during school hours by contacting the school Health Office.

We has a health assistant who provides day-to-day care for students, including medication administration, first aid care, and basic health support under the supervision and guidance of the RN consultant.

When Students Should Stay Home

27J Schools follows guidance from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) regarding when students and staff should stay home from school.

Our district RN consultants work with school administrators using evidence-based health guidelines from How Sick is Too Sick to make appropriate decisions about illness and school attendance.

Medication Administration

As a reminder to ensure the health and safety of each student with medication:

Prescription medications must come in a container labeled with: child’s name, name of medicine, dosage, time medicine it is to be given, date medicine is to be stopped, and licensed health care provider’s name, pharmacy name and phone number. Medication must be packaged in an original container from the pharmacy.

Over-the-Counter medication must be labeled with child’s name. Dosage on the container must match the signed health care provider authorization. Medication must be packaged in original container.

Parent Notification: Stock epinephrine in building

The school shall have a stock supply of emergency epinephrine medication for use in emergency anaphylaxis events that occur on school grounds. Any administration of emergency epinephrine to a student by a school employee shall be in accordance with applicable state law, including applicable State Board of Education rules.

The school's stock supply of emergency epinephrine medication is not intended to replace student-specific orders or medication provided by the student's parent/guardian to treat the student's asthma, food or other allergy, anaphylaxis or related, life-threatening condition

Immunization Information

Colorado law requires all students attending Colorado schools and licensed child cares to be vaccinated against certain diseases unless a medical or non-medical exemption is filed with the district.
