Biography

Mr. Hensel was born and raised in Denver, Colorado, and graduated from Pomona Senior High School in 2009. After graduating with his Bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Northern Colorado in 2013, he realized that he actually needed to make money, so he attended Metropolitan State University of Denver until 2015 where he received his secondary teaching certification.

After teaching ELA at Fort Lupton High School from 2017 until 2020, Mr. Hensel attended the University of Wyoming where he received his Master’s of Arts in History in 2022. After working briefly with a non-profit historical society in Deadwood, South Dakota, he was hired on to teach social studies by Eagle Ridge Academy in 2023.

Besides teaching, Mr. Hensel enjoys reading–mostly Westerns, horror novels, and biographies of famous Wild West outlaws and lawmen–watching movies of all genres, writing, hiking, and exploring the American West.
