Biography

Hi! I'm Melissa Gustus, and I am part of the Human Resources team supporting both Eagle Ridge Academy and Belle Creek Charter School. I split my time between the two schools, supporting our staff and helping create a positive, nurturing work environment. I have been a part of the ERA family since the school opened in 2009, and it has been incredibly rewarding to watch our school grow and evolve. I also have deep roots in the community; I grew up in Brighton and am a proud graduate of Brighton High School.  

I am most passionate about working with the individuals who educate and support our future generations! I genuinely enjoy interacting with people and love being someone our staff can turn to for help, guidance, or just a listening ear when they need it. My personal HR motto is "putting the human back in Human Resources." I believe that HR should be about more than just policies and paperwork; it's about supporting the people who make our schools what they are.

I hold a Master's Degree in Human Resource Management from the University of Phoenix and am a SHRM-SCP certified HR professional. I began my career in HR in the hospitality industry before transitioning into education, where I found a true passion for supporting educators and school staff.

When I'm not at the schools, you'll usually find me cheering on my husband at the racetrack, watching my daughter play softball, or playing volleyball myself. I love being active, spending time with my family, and getting to know the amazing people who make up our schools.
